Student Behavior/Classroom Regulations
The instructor sets the standards of behavior acceptable in the classroom by announcing the standards listed below early in the semester/term
-
Student Conduct - Expectations for student conduct are outlined in the Greenville Technical College Catalog and Student Handbook, which is also located on Resources4me under Employees>Quick Access. The existence and importance of this publication should be discussed with students.
-
Other expectations include:
-
lab and clinic behavior
-
appropriate dress and safety gear
-
penalties for frequent tardiness, i.e., number of tardies equivalent to an absence
-
Academic Misconduct
All forms of academic misconduct, including cheating, plagiarism, collusion, falsification of information, etc., will call for disciplinary action. (Refer to the Academic Integrity Policy and Academic Misconduct Procedures located in the College catalog.)
Classroom Regulations
The following are enforceable rules while in the classroom:
-
Classes must not be left unattended.
-
Smoking is not permitted in class.
-
Rooms should be left clean and neatly arranged for the next class.
-
Unattended laboratories and offices must be locked at all times.
-
When leaving classrooms, lights must be turned off, and doors must be closed.
-
Devices such as cell phones are permitted on campus but should not be activated in class without the consent of the instructor.
-
Disruptive or disorderly students should be reported to the Dean of Students office, at (864) 250-8100; after 5 p.m. or on weekends, contact GTC Police at (864) 250-8001.
-
The Director of Early College (EC) must be notified if an incident of academic misconduct involves an early college student. In most instances, students will have the EC director and the high school counselor in attendance at the meetings. The counselor will attend to support the student and will not speak on behalf of the student. The Director of EC serves as the liaison between the high school and GTC. Once a decision is made, ensure the Director of EC receives a copy of the documentation.
