The Student Services Division established the Center for Student Advocacy to assist Greenville Technical College (GTC) as it addresses continuing institutional challenges with student persistence and retention. GTC provides an array of services identified as national "Best Practices" in student and academic support areas. As the college continues to focus on supporting students to increase their ability to succeed and persist, the Center for Student Advocacy's primary function is to maximize student referrals and knowledge about these services.
The mission of the Center for Student Advocacy is to foster a learner-centered experience by empowering students to take an active and collaborative role in their learning.

The Center's vision is to be a leader in maximizing students' potential for academic success at Greenville Technical College and in the state of South Carolina.

The role of this area is to act as an information/resource highway for faculty, staff, and students who need the assistance of campus resources but are unsure about where to go or how to begin. The Center for Student Advocacy is designated a "no judgment zone" for students struggling with academic, personal, and/or financial challenges. While the Center for Student Advocacy is not a counseling center, it is the location where students can expect those all-important third, fourth, and fifth questions to be asked to ensure that referrals/recommendations are worthwhile and helpful to the students and the subsequent referral areas.

The Center for Student Advocacy is a resource hub for everyone at GTC. It serves the college's students, and the staff is available to aid service areas throughout the college — areas that may need people's power, feedback, or any other assistance that can be provided to support student success.

The Center for Student Advocacy also focuses on student engagement. Whether it involves working with Student Government or underserved student populations, the Center for Student Advocacy is here to engage with students and encourage and enhance a sense of belonging for all students at GTC.
