Financial Aid

Amy Munoz, Director
Amy Byrley, Program Manager

The primary purpose of the Financial Aid Office is to assist students with paying for college. This is accomplished by evaluating the family's ability to pay for educational costs, equitably distributing limited resources, and providing a balance of gift and self-help aid. Thus, a student's financial need is determined by subtracting the expected family contribution, as determined by the FAFSA application, from the total cost of attending Greenville Technical College. The total financial aid awarded to a student shall never exceed the college's cost of attendance.

The amount of a student's financial aid is contingent upon the student's enrollment status. A student's eligibility for federal grants, student loans, and most state aid may be terminated due to their failure to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Additional information is available on the college's website at Greenville Technical College's SAP Standards or in the financial aid section of the Greenville Technical College Catalog. Another resource is the detailed financial aid process checklist.

Procedures

Financial aid is not automatically renewable. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. Students can now submit their FAFSA beginning October 1 and will use tax return data from two years prior. All students must submit their application electronically via www.studentaid.gov. Students are encouraged to apply before the following established application priority dates to avoid unnecessary delays in establishing their financial aid.

Greenville Tech Foundation (GTF) Scholarships

Greenville Tech Foundation annually awards scholarships to Greenville Technical College students in a range of majors and academic grade levels. Students should submit their application online at http://gvltec.academicworks.com/users/sign_in using their GTC4me credentials. The online portal is typically open from mid-February through mid-May, with award notifications made in the summer. Awards are split evenly between spring and fall terms unless a student is graduating in December or has other extenuating circumstances.

In 2023-24, GTF provided more than $784,000 to students. By submitting one general application, students are automatically matched with most scholarships for which they may qualify. GTF scholarships require a 2.0 GPA from previous high school and/or college academic work, submission of the current year’s FAFSA, and an official high school transcript or GED on file with GTC.
