Program Description

This program trains students to install and service heat pumps, gas, electric equipment, and commercial refrigeration units.

Embedded Certificate
This program contains one or more embedded certificates which will automatically be awarded if the certificate requirements are met unless the student completes and submits the Program of Study Change Form requesting to opt out of the embedded certificate. 

Vision Statement

The Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) program will provide skilled personnel training consistent with the industry workforce needs.

Mission Statement

The Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) program will incorporate practical “hands-on” and “real-world problem-solving” training technology into a curriculum that is consistent with the changing skill requirements of the industry.  Through planned evaluations from the program advisory committee composed of representatives from local AC/R companies, the student will demonstrate professional ethics and integrity skills while learning in a collaborative teamwork environment.

Entrance Requirements

High school diploma or GED not required. Students may enter this certificate any semester with department head approval.

• EPA Technician (subject to passing the EPA exam)
• HVAC Excellence Employment Ready Certification (subject to passing the EPA exam)
• North American Technician Excellence’s  (NATE)  Knowledge Areas of Technician Expertise Core (subject to passing EPA exam)
