Library Services
Greenville Technical College (GTC) Libraries are collaborative partners in achieving student success and teaching excellence by facilitating access to resources and services, teaching information and digital literacy skills, and providing engagement programs that inspire lifelong learning.
Resources
GTC Libraries provide many physical and electronic resources to support Greenville Technical College programs, courses, and operations and to foster personal and professional learning and development. Current students, faculty, and staff can borrow GTC Libraries items with an active GTC ID. Early College / Dual Enrollment and all other high school students residing in Greenville County are required to complete a GTC Libraries Card application each academic year with handwritten signature of parental or guardian consent. An active GTC username and password may be required for full access to search results, electronic resources and delivery requests.
Visit http://libguides.gvltec.edu/library to search and access books, eBooks, databases, articles, journals, magazines, newspapers, videos, and a variety of open educational resources (OERs). Research Guides are also available at http://libguides.gvltec.edu to help find librarian and instructor recommended resources for specific programs, courses, assignments and topics.
All GTC Libraries resources are located at the Barton campus and online. Resources can be borrowed via:
- Barton Library: Browse and check out or pick up requested items at GTC’s main campus library during business hours.
- Campus Delivery: Request items from the Barton Library with expected delivery to other campuses in 1 to 3 business days. Benson, Brashier, and Northwest campus deliveries are sent to GTC Libraries' lockers. Other deliveries are sent to the campus administrative assistant for pick up.
- Digital Delivery: Request copyright compliant scanned portions of GTC Libraries, PASCAL, and Interlibrary Loan items delivered to your GTC email in 1 to 3 business days.
- PASCAL: Request items from our Partnership Among South Carolina Libraries with expected delivery to your GTC campus in 3 to 5 business days. Current GTC students and employees can also borrow materials at PASCAL libraries using their College ID.
- Interlibrary Loan: Request items from other United States libraries with expected delivery to your GTC email or campus in 3 to 10 days.
- Greenville County Library System: Greenville County residents qualify for a free library card, and items can be returned at any GTC Libraries location.
When student access to a textbook or other resource is limited, faculty can request that GTC Libraries, PASCAL, department or personal items be placed on Course Reserve with customized circulation policies for physical items at Barton Library and copyright compliant restrictions for eReserves used in Blackboard.
